Life Lesson #3: Take Time

When things get crazy in your life, it is so crucial that you take time to release, relax, and reflect. This is such a good thing to do regularly especially, so you get your emotions out instead of bottling it all up.  If you were anything like me, its easy to just keep going and going without ever taking time for yourself.

When I would get to a breaking point, I learned that it was important for me to take time to get away from everything and take time seek the Lord.  Rememering that we can go to the Lord and lay everything down at his feet.

Psalm 68:19 (New International Version)Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Selah
This one literally saved my life, because it is also when God listened to my hearts cry and spoke to me and comforted me in my time of need.
Jeremiah 33:3 (The Message)This is God's Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: 'Call unto me and I will answer you. I tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.
When I was a sophomore in College,  I would get so stressed out because of some relationships, family stuff, school, work, money issues i was having, because of poor choices I made. (The list could truly go on forever)  The stress was totally debilitating.  I would wake up nauseated every morning and get sick of my stomach.  Eventually, I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux.

Whenever I got really overwhelmed with all the stress of my life I would get in my car and drive. I would pray, cry, scream, sing worship songs to focus my thoughts on the Lord and not my situation. In those times, I would pour my heart out and God answered me every time. He'd bring a scriptures to my rememberance or I'd turn on the radio and either the song or the message I would hear on the station would speak directly to my situation and several times I heard his voice so clear.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (Amplified)
God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patientlyGod is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently.

Another way I found to be a good release is that I would also journal and write out may prayers to Him. I have several notebooks that I can go back and pinpoint breakthroughs and also remind myself that the Lord got me through it then how much more can He can get me through it now! Our God is faithful!

There were also times where I would also take time lock myself in my room and listen to worship, sing and dance.

So I encourage you to find those things in your life that help you to release everything and give it to God.  Whether you paint, jog, write, sing, draw, hiking, whatever your outlet is make the effort to take the time.
