My Letters to my Congress Reps, The GOP, and Bill O'Reilly

6/07/2007 Estreitta 0 Comments

I have refrained from posting anything about this because this current "hot topic" has been making me very upset. I would rather sound rational versus irrational.

I have written several of my fellow conservatives and public officials about this as well as religious leaders, TV Show hosts as well.

My personal feelings on this issue are different from most main stream Republican, except for President Bush. (Who I still Support and am Glad he is our Leader, where other Republican leaders and Conservative Talk Show Host have thrown him under the bus)

I agree with the Presidents Plan for a Comprehensive Immigration Reform. Something that will be a compromise for all parties. Although I wasn't 100% for the bill that our Washington leaders but i thought it was a great start.

Below are the letters I sent to Washington, The GOP, and Bill O'Reilly:

My Letter to Washington

Dear Congressman & Congresswoman

I urge you to fully support President Bush's plan for Comprehensive Reform Immigration. Me and my family advocate Comprehensive Immigration Reform that serves both our nation's national security interests and economic interests.

I do believe that the current immigration laws are restrictive (particularly Haitian's, Mexicans, Central Americans, and South Americans) giving many of our struggling neighbors no other alternative but to come into this country illegally. Many these immigrants only want to make a better life for their families while doing their part to contribute to the economy. They believe in the ideals of our society and want to be a part of the Home of the Free and Home of the Brave. They desire to pursue opportunities and attain the Great American dream while doing many jobs I know I or event most Americans wouldn't. However, I do believe they should do their best to try to come into our country the legal way but that isn't always an option for them.

I urge you to pass real comprehensive immigration reform that provides for a strong and accountable guest-worker program, establishes a process for earned legalization with an eventual pathway to citizenship, ensure that every student is able to gain access to a quality post-secondary education and reunite families. 70% of all Americans favor comprehensive reform that provides a pathway to citizenship. Any reform must not unduly burden small businesses with ineffective verification systems.

America needs a strong temporary worker program to do those jobs that American citizens will not do. 500 economists, including five Nobel Prize winners, have stressed that immigration is a net economic gain for America and the economic benefits it produces is "the greatest anti-poverty program ever devised. These costs are investments in America's future. In a country that absorbs about one million newcomers per year, each yearly influx of immigrants pays $80 billion more in taxes over the course of a lifetime than it consumes in services.

Our immigration system is broken, and if we do not enact fair and comprehensive immigration legislation in this Congressional session, it is unlikely that immigration reform will be addressed until several years from now. Immigrants are not on welfare, which they don't qualify for anyway, and have a strong work ethic - 92 percent of working-age immigrants are employed.

I have heard numerous stories of people coming to the United States with only 20 dollars in their pockets and a heart full of hope and dreams. They make a life for themselves then start a family and go onto build a business then ultimately become successful entrepreneurs and hire and train people to do replicate and build their dreams also. That is what our society was created upon. The early settlers came to America to make a better life for themselves here and had to undergo many challenges and trials yet they founded this country on the principles that "ALL MEN WERE CREATED EQUAL" and that they all have the right to pursue "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness"

We need to find a way to help those that have contributed greatly to our society and economy and a Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill would be the first step!

Sincerely,

I. Estreitta Martin de Kluetz

My Letter to the GOP:

Dear GOP:

Today, I received an email from the GOP that was rather disheartening to me. It was a request to vote on a poll about weather I agree with the Mayor suggesting the local officials should not comply with federal agents in regards to enforcing current immigration laws. When I answered the poll I decided to vote the "opposing" view of many Republicans to see the response.

I'd like to preface my response with the fact that I do believe that the current immigration laws are restrictive to only certain people groups (particularly Haitians, Mexicans, Central Americans, and South Americans) giving many of our struggling neighbors no other alternative but to come into this country illegally.

Many these immigrants only want to make a better life for their families while doing their part to contribute to the economy. They believe in the ideals of our society and want o be a part of the Home of the Free and Home of the Brave. They desire to pursue opportunities and attain the Great American dream while doing many jobs I know I or event most Americans wouldn't. However, I do believe they should do their best to try to come into our country the legal way but that isn't always an option for them.

Since 1992, I have been a longtime supporter of the Republican Party, however recently I have been very upset with the party mostly because of the lack of united support for President Bush and also the widely accepted stance in the party on immigration reform.

In the past I have asked that the GOP not send me email me further emails that discuss immigration because I feel that much of the remarks I have heard/read have sounded very racially discriminating and uncompassionate towards a group of people who have contributed greatly to our society and economy. The more I hear or read similar statements the less I want to be associated with the GOP. I have made a conscience effort to no longer support the GOP directly and will ONLY support the Republican National Hispanic Assembly, Conservative Christian Organizations and President George W. Bush. I am sure I am not alone especially those of us that are of Hispanic dissent and typically vote Republican. Regular statements of this nature on the behalf of the GOP will only isolate Hispanic supporters and the GOP will lose a large voting base if you continue on this path!

Below are poll results I received with the comment that they are "sorry I feel that way" as if my opinion on the matter is unacceptable.

94% disagreed with you.
5% agreed with you.

We're sorry you feel that way, but below are some organizations who can help you achieve your goals...

Please remove me from your news letter. I no longer want to support the GOP because I disagree with the way the Mainstream Republicans are not supporting the President nor those of us conservative Hispanics that have assisted the Republican agendas in trying to find a compromise on the immigration issue. The comments I have heard from many republicans have made want to disassociate myself with the GOP and ONLY support the Conservative Hispanic Organizations!

Best regards,

I. Estreitta de Kluetz

My Letter to Mr. Bill O'Reilly:

Mr. O'Reilly:

First, I want you know that I have been a longtime fan, ever since your "Current Affair" days!

I am a thirty-one year old Hispanic Christian Conservative who has voted Republican for the past 13 years. Although, I have been very disappointed with how majority of Republicans have verbalized their opposition towards Immigration Reform, including yourself Mr. O'Reilly. I totally disagree with your statement that the current Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill will lead America into a one party system.

Hispanics typically have conservative values and about 44% of the Latin community voted for President Bush in the last Presidential Election. During both campaigns I personally passed out all the VIVA BUSH yard signs and bumper stickers I could get my hands on at outdoor festivals with large number of Hispanics in attendance. I have done my part in educating my community how the Republican Party reflects our morals and family values.

Until recently, my efforts in educating Latinos has come to a screeching halt. I have been waiting to see how the Republican Party responds to Immigration Reform. Majority of what I have seen and heard has been very disheartening to me and I am sure it has been the same for other Hispanic Republicans. This overall attitude of the Republicans in regards to immigration reform would be the only reason why majority of Hispanics would be pushed into voting Democrat. If we do become a one party system, the GOP is to blame. Mostly because the Republican Party didn't do their part in welcoming these immigrants. Republicans need to start embracing the Hispanic community as President Bush has. Doing so will be better for the GOP and our country!!!!!!

Best regards,

I. Estreitta de Kluetz

Someone on the Corner

6/05/2007 Estreitta 0 Comments

[I remember writing this in a spanish lab class in college my freshman year.  it was a pretty gloomy doomy winter day and this poem just fell on the paper. I imagined someone at a streetcorner waiting for the light to turn so they can cross over to the otherside and these thoughts going through their head]
Someone on the CornerWritten by I. Estreitta Martin de KluetzFall 93 (Revised June 2007)
The dour clouds,
The dark sky,
The rain falling on my head, I feel like I need to cry

(The Blood that You Shed)
My day drags on,
I want to turn to someone and ask for help,
but my pain is trapped inside of me
(I can only wonder how you felt)
I see many people pass me by,
I try to hide,
but a smile I give, Yet I feel even worseInside I scream "I need help somebody..
Is ther any who can save me from my pain?"
(You never changed)
I go on hurtNo one asksNo one caresOh this sad life is not fairWhy must I go on living like this...Lonely, Lost, Longing for love
(Yours is the only True love)
I know I musn't hide itI know I must let goBut where, oh where do I go?It's been so longLast time I spoke to youI was so very young and naïve..

(Why did I ever leave you?)
I am no oneI am worthlessI've done so muchAll these lies and so many years have passed
(I know You're there and You've always been)
I can't deny that Love only exists because of YouI can't explain your Grace inspite of my prideI can't help but surrender this mess I've made
(The Nails, The Cross, Your Death, Your Ressurection)
I  repent, acknowledge, and confessThis heart, soul, and mind is yoursA new Life I have been givenIn you I find peace and rest

Where Do I Go?

6/04/2007 Estreitta 1 Comments

[ I wrote this when I was in College dealing with severe depression... This was one of the darkest periods of my life. I read a friends Blog today and it reminded me of this poem/song. So I went through my old writings and found it. You know I am So thankful i am reminded of where I was then and where I am know. The Lord truly helped me through that devastating time. If you are having some difficulties right now hopefully this poem/song can help you verbalize what you are going through. I share this with the hopes that my painful testimony written in this poem/song will lead you back on the right track and path to hope and freedom. The biggest key I learned was to Trust God with everything..my life.. my thoughts..my wants..my fears..and you know what He ABSOLUTELY Took care of it all!]

Where Do I Go?
Written by I. Estreitta Martin de Kluetz
Spring 1996 (Revised June 2007)
Where do I go?
Where do I run?
Oh My God this isn't fun!!!
I try, oh how I try
Focus on...
Focus off...
Focus on...
Focus off...
Focus on...
DEEP
DOWN
DRY inside
Longing for just a sip of your well...
a small still lingering Light comes on inside of me
but i do not understand why
I remember the days when I was so full of zest for life
But something stole that from me!
A prowler crept in and over came
But yet the small still lingering Light is on
I am so fighten of what I've become...
Where do I go?
Where do I run?
Oh My God this isn't fun!!!
The Roses and the Sunshine always made my day
Even when the rain and thorns got in my way
I pressed on
I pushed forward
I stayed positive
Why do I hide behind something I've always ridculed?
I thought I was REAL
I thought I was RIGHT
what I thought I was Ridiculous
it was just a fascade....
Where do I go?
Where do I run?
Oh My God this isn't fun!!!

6/04/2007 Estreitta 1 Comments

Well I just finished it... I have to say that Breyers low carb rocky road ice cream is the best ice cream on the planet.  And it is only 4 Carbs.. I totally love it....

Well the past few months my life has kinda had some interesting twist and turns....just like the ingredients in rocky road with every bite, it is a new experience one bite could be marshmellow, chocolate then the nutty surprise.. this stuff is Fantabulous!

In April I accepted a position at a photography studio then I quit 3 weeks later...The Boss one day came into the office asked me a question and freaked out about my response with arms flayling and loud overbearing voice... The hubby and I both decided that i couldn't work in that environment. so back to the job hunt for me....

It was a kewl At the end of April/beginning of May... The hubby and I traveled to MN and got to see some friends and family.  it was an awesome trip we were so glad that we went and got to hang out with Erik's rents and almost saw everyone we wanted to see!!!

When we Got back into town it took us a week to recover and unpack all the suitcases...i was franticially searching for a job and got a few phone calls..

Then My Best friend Mandy had her 3rd (and Final Child) Maya Lynn. This is the First one I had been around to see. please pray for her..she had a C-section and isn't healing a quickly as she needs to nor is she getting alot of rest.

then I got the Call from this one company in the construction industry in Fort worth  and also got this email from a large Advertising agency in Dallas.  in the beginning I was excited about both of the jobs...

I thought that maybe with the dallas position I would be kewl way of getting back into the media industry...but then again I would have to drive to Dallas every day about an hour drive...Then at my interview with the costruction company only 15 miles away from my house.

The Position is Performance Management & Training Coordinator.  I then was asked for a 2nd interview then 2 days later offered the position. I just new that it was going to be the perfect fit. the More i learned about the position the more I was excited.  So I started on May 24.  I totally am digging the job.

This week we discovered Maeze has fleas from the back yard (we had some stray cats living in our shed) on Saturday so now we are dealing with a flea war in our house... in our bed i am itching all over urghh!

Next week could hold some interesting adventures..my gal pal Rachel is coming to visit us in Texas.. She wants me to find a mechanical bull for her to ride... I am going to see if I can find one for her to ride...I have a picture somewhere with me widing one as a kid.. the only thing is that it wasn't alive nor was it mechanical...we'll see what crazyiness we can get ourselves into!!!
